Roster Change

Ed O'Hare, chief information officer at the General Services Administration's Federal Supply Service, joined the private sector after 28 years at GSA. O'Hare began his new job Feb. 19 as a senior associate for the information technology team at Booz-Allen & Hamilton Inc.'s worldwide technology business. Among other responsibilities at GSA, O'Hare oversaw GSA Advantage, the online shopping mall for products and services.

Don Heffernan, deputy CIO at FSS, will be replacing O'Hare as acting CIO.

Rear Adm. Kenneth Slaght was named last week as the head the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. Spawar buys, develops and manages the Navy's command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

Slaght has served as Spawar's vice commander since September 2000. From December 1997 until last year, he served as Spawar's chief engineer, when he helped implement the Information Technology for the 21st Century program for the Pacific Fleet. He takes over as Spawar commander from Rear Adm. John Gauss, who is retiring.

Sean O'Keefe was officially nominated last week to be deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget. A professor at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, O'Keefe is the director of national security studies, which provides executive education programs for senior military and civilian personnel.

Muyiwa Idowu was named last week as chief operating officer of Application Technologies Inc, an information technology consulting firm for commercial and government organizations. Most recently, Idowu was an advisory consultant to the Education Department, where he directed the streamlining of the department's core treasury and cash management processes.
