FAA finds infosec director
Michael Brown replaces Raymond Long as FAA's director of the Office of Information Security
The Federal Aviation Administration filled its open information security director position this week with Michael Brown, the former chief information officer of the Army National Guard.
Brown will report to FAA CIO Daniel Mehan and replaces Raymond Long, who served the FAA as director of the Office of Information Systems Security from May 2000 through December 2000.
Brown has been CIO of the Army National Guard since 1999. Before that, he was director of the Army Information Assurance Office in information systems for command, control, communications and computers (C4) at the Pentagon. From 1992 to 1994, he was the operations branch chief in information systems for C4.
Brown's civilian experience includes teaching at Jersey Shore Elementary School in Pennsylvania from 1970 to 1983 and at Riverside Elementary School in Joppa, Md., from 1969 to 1970. He also was assistant professor of military science at the University of Cincinnati from 1983 to 1988.
