SSA Web site offers multilingual access to information

JULY 2—The Social Security Administration recently introduced its Multi-Language Gateway Web page to provide information on its services to users who don’t speak English.

By Matt McLaughlin GCN StaffJULY 2—The Social Security Administration recently introduced its Multi-Language Gateway Web page to provide information on its services to users who don’t speak English.The site, at , offers information in 14 languages: Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, Farsi, Greek, Haitian-Creole, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.SSA has translated several of its most popular Web pages into the 14 languages and posted them in Adobe Portable Document Format. Included are a snapshot of the department and information on interpreter services, disability benefits and supplemental security income benefits.The Spanish page contains links to numerous other pages, such as answers to frequently asked questions and Social Security statistics, as well as a button to contact a webmaster in Spanish.
