Electronic warfare contracts awarded

Navy selects five vendor teams to provide services supporting electronic warfare, intelligence

The Navy recently selected five vendor teams to provide electronic warfare support services as well as electronic intelligence and communications equipment, systems and programs for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division.

The awards contain one base year and four one-year options with a potential value of about $162 million if all options are exercised, according to the Navy. The five vendor teams are led by:

* Argon Engineering Associates Inc.

* General Dynamics Corp.

* Scientific Research Corp.

* Logicon Comptek Federal Systems Inc.

* Fuentez Systems Concepts Inc.

The Logicon team, which since the contract award Sept. 28 has taken on the Northrop Grumman Corp. name, will provide engineering, technical, logistical and program management services, said John Maas, program manager for Northrop Grumman Information Technology.

Northrop's tasks include:

* Software, hardware and systems engineering.

* Configuration management.

* Integrated logistics support.

* Technical documentation.

* Training.

* Hardware repair.

* Racks and cables manufacturing.

* Installations.

The Northrop team includes Anteon Corp. and Research and Development Solutions Inc. The potential value of this team's portion of the contacts is more than $28 million, and program work will be done primarily in Tidewater, Va.

Maas said the new contract "is a vote of confidence for our team and its ability to support new and emerging electronic warfare, electronic intelligence and communications intelligence systems for the Navy."

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, provides test and evaluation, software engineering, and logistical support for surface warfare combat systems and related weaponry of the Navy fleet.
