More than 86,000 state and local government offices and their 23 million civil service employees contribute to Social Security and Medicare funds.
The site posts procedures, rulings and other information from the administration and the IRS. There are links to national associations, state and local coverage specialists, and each state’s Social Security administrator, plus a list of frequently asked questions. Links also are provided to vendors of wage reporting services.
Beginning next year, all employers except those who file on paper must conform to SSA’s new Magnetic Media Record Format. The site provides state tax filing instructions.
