Accelio out to capture e-gov

In what company officials are calling the "next evolution of data capture," Accelio Corp. has announced a solution that enables agencies to not only bring paper forms into the electronic realm, but also to integrate the data into their business systems.

"It's not really about the form, but what the form does," said John Hogerland, vice president and general manager of Accelio's applied technology division. "It's about extending applications and systems that agencies have bought and implemented...and accelerating their time to service."

The Accelio Capture Suite enables organizations to customize the solution with modules that lets citizens, partners and employees — on-site or remotely — connect to the agency's systems and business processes regardless of their operating environment, browser or device.

The suite includes modules for external users — such as off-site workers or citizens accessing forms via the World Wide Web — as well as for agencies interested in strictly internal use, or accessing and updating data through handheld devices. All of the modules are Section 508-compliant, Hogerland said.

"It's all in a modular format, so they can consume as little or as much as they want," he said. "To truly accomplish what e-government is all about — improving service to citizens — [agencies] need to deploy a capture environment linked to processes and linked to systems."

The Accelio Capture Suite starts at $15,000 for one module, and a typical solution with all modules starts at $50,000.

The Defense Department is Accelio's largest federal client, and the company expects the first government customer to be using the new suite by March or April, he said. The company will begin shipping the suite in January.
