The Firstgov.gov portal will get a new look before the General Services Administration overhauls it. GSA released a request for proposals earlier this month to find a vendor to conduct focus groups and develop an interim redesign of the site.In the RFP, GSA asked vendors to survey customers on how to best organize the portal’s content to highlight online transactions, government shopping, topical information and interaction among government agencies, businesses and citizens. Proposals are due Dec. 19.The interim redesign will show repositioned content, new categories, better site graphics, and let future enhancements be integrated easily. The renovation process will include deploying a content management system, integrating other Firstgov business systems, such as the customer relationship management system, and reconfiguring the information architecture.GSA initiated organizing its content more easily by setting up a subscription center for government newsletters.
