Michigan launches new online services

Michigan will begin online license renewal for podiatrists, emergency medical services workers, and family therapists starting next month as part of a continuing campaign to expand its e-government activities.Officials said they will launch more online licensing projects in the months to come via the site at . Michigan recently unveiled a service that lets users check the license status of vehicle, credit card and mortgage lenders online. Web users can also check teachers’ licenses and find long-term care providers via the portal.Also new is a service that lets Web users check the status of administrative law hearings. “Licensees, attorneys, reporters, complainants, supporters and other interested parties can avoid unnecessary trips by confirming where, when and if a hearing is scheduled,” according to a statement from Gov. John Engler’s office. The hearings apply to several areas of Michigan regulation affecting professional licenses, health, safety, labor, finance and transportation matters.
