Anteon to bring cure to medical logistics

The Defense Department awarded Anteon Corp. a $16.8 million contract to improve the delivery of supplies to the military medical community.

Anteon will support the Medical Directorate of the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia (DSCP), which provides logistics support to DOD medical organizations, as well as other federal agencies, during military actions and peacetime operations.

The program is intended to reduce the cost of medical supplies and services by helping DSCP adapt commercial models to its logistics operations, according to the Fairfax, Va., company.

Anteon has a 30-day phase-in period to begin work, but based on discussions with DSCP, would like to start by Jan. 15, according to an Anteon spokesman.

The contract, which was awarded Dec. 27, 2001, and announced Jan. 9, includes one base year, and four, one-year options. Anteon's Information Systems Group will perform the work.
