RSIS gains space warfare center deal

The Air Force Space Command this week announced that it has awarded a contract to RS Information Systems Inc. (RSIS) to provide systems management and engineering services to the Space Warfare Center at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.

The Space Warfare Center Technical Services and Space Operations Support contract includes a base year and seven one-year options, with a total potential value of $88 million.

In addition to systems management and engineering, RSIS and its subcontractors are providing information technology services, developing training and education courses, and performing systems tests and evaluation, said Rodney Hunt, president and chief executive officer of RSIS.

Hunt said RSIS is helping the Air Force integrate its "advanced technology weapons, platforms and special test facilities, [and is providing] technical expertise for emerging technologies and systems in the areas of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance."

The mission of the Air Force Space Command and the Space Warfare Center is to protect national security, safeguard space assets and ensure reliable access to space.

The contract was awarded last month and announced Jan. 24. It requires the involvement of more than 85 technical staff members, who began working in December, according to RSIS.

The company's other federal customers include the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Coast Guard, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Weather Service and many other Air Force installations.
