Skills-tracking system awarded
Marasco Newton Group will develop Acquisition Career Management Information System
The General Services Administration has awarded a $1.6 million contract for a governmentwide acquisition personnel skills-tracking system to Marasco Newton Group Ltd.
The Acquisition Career Management Information System will enable acquisition personnel and their managers to search information about the skills held by members of the workforce and employee plans for additional training and education. It is modeled after a system of the same name within the Defense Department.
Among other benefits, the new system will offer managers a better way to determine their personnel resources and figure out which employees are best suited for particular projects, officials said.
The five-year contract will be run out of the GSA Office of Governmentwide Policy's Office of Acquisition Policy, but it is a joint project with the Federal Acquisition Institute and the Procurement Executives Council.
GSA awarded the contract Dec. 21, 2001, through the Commerce Department's Commerce Information Technology Solutions small-business services contract.
