The Education Department’s Office of Student Financial Assistance has revamped its Web site for student aid, making the application process quicker and easier.
The Education Department’s Office of Student Financial Assistance has revamped its Web site for student aid, making the application process quicker and easier.The new Free Application for Federal Student Aid Web site, at , can handle more applications and is expected to process approximately 6 million this academic year, more than half of the 10 million FAFSA applications submitted annually.“The upgraded Web site is more accessible, with less downtime, and the forms are easier and quicker to fill out than before,” said Steve Shane, a partner with Accenture of Chicago, the prime contractor in Education’s modernization effort. “By accommodating the increased volume of online applications, the site will save taxpayer dollars by reducing paper submissions and manual processing costs," he said.The site includes:
