The CIO Council and the Office of Personnel Management have set April 22 to April 26 for an IT job fair over the Web from which they expect to help agencies choose from thousands of potential employees.
The CIO Council and the Office of Personnel Management have set April 22 to April 26 for an IT job fair over the Web from which they expect to help agencies choose from thousands of potential employees.Participants will access the job fair through OPM’s Web site, at www.usajobs.opm.gov. Candidates who are eligible to be hired at GS-7 through GS-13 grade levels will submit evaluations online, and they will be asked to take competency tests and technical skills self-certification exams. Ira Hobbs, co-chairman of the council’s Workforce and Human Capital for IT committee, said in a recent release that the council plans to advertise the fair extensively throughout the country. Holding the fair on the Web will save agencies thousands of dollars in recruitment advertising, he said.OPM and the council will hold training sessions for human resources personnel and IT employees at participating agencies.
