Air Force awards DMS deal

The Air Force recently announced that it has awarded a multimillion-dollar task order to a pair of contractors to support the Defense Message System Air Force Program Management Office.

The task order was awarded to NCI Information Systems Inc. and PESystems Inc. under the Information Technology Services Program contract.

The award has a seven-month base period with two one-year options and a maximum total value of about $6 million. NCI will receive about $4 million of the task order, according to the McLean, Va.-based company.

Under terms of the award, the contractor team will provide:

* Advisory and assistance services.

* Program management support.

* Program control.

* Engineering and registration support to the DMS-AF Program Management Office at Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex.

The Air Force DMS contract was awarded April 1 and work started that day, said David Balleweg, senior vice president of business development for defense and national security sales at NCI.

NCI also recently announced that it would be working -- as a subcontractor to Telos Corp. -- on the Army Enterprise Infostructure Transformation pilot program for the Military District of Washington.

That contract calls for the Telos team to provide technical services and support and assess the viability for the Army to standardize desktop computers and servers on a core set of software based on Microsoft Corp. Windows 2000 and Active Directory software.
