DISA awards BPA for Sun maintenance

Dynamic Systems Inc., an 8(a) business, wins contract to provide services for Sun products

The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) on May 29 awarded a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) to Dynamic Systems Inc. for services associated with Sun Microsystems Inc. products.

The nine-year BPA, which is worth up to $180 million, will provide the Defense Department and the Coast Guard with discounts because of their high volume of orders for hardware and software maintenance, said Air Force Lt. Gen. Harry Raduege Jr., DISA director.

"DOD can realize savings of up to 63 percent off Sun's list price," Raduege said in a release. "The contract will provide warranty, maintenance, education, and professional services for Sun products."

The contract also will help DISA fulfill a request from the Enterprise Software Initiative Working Group of DOD's Chief Information Officer's Executive Board. The working group asked DISA to provide a departmentwide enterprise hardware/software agreement for Sun operating systems, according to DISA.

Los Angeles-based Dynamic Systems Inc. is an 8(a) business, which designates a minority small-business program run by the Small Business Administration, and was awarded the contract agreement off its General Services Administration schedule.
