OPM previews Recruitment One-Stop

The Office of Personnel Management this week gave a glimpse into the Recruitment One-Stop jobs portal, which is scheduled to open in January. OPM released a request for information outlining requirements for Recruitment One-Stop, one of the Office of Management and Budget’s 24 e-government initiatives.OPM, the managing partner for five of the projects, said that vendors should expand on the USAJobs.OPM.gov portal by improving the submission process for online applications. One resume should suffice for multiple job announcements, the RFI said. It also called for new online services such as application status tracking, applicant database mining for federal hiring managers, eligibility screening and resume integration with agency systems.“We are asking the private sector to look at USAJobs and who our target environment is, and respond with the best ideas to take us from where we are now to our future vision,” said Norm Enger, OPM’s e-government project manager.The new site should be ready to stand up to heavy use, increasing by at least 10 percent annually, OPM said. The current USAJobs site lists 16,000 to 18,000 openings daily and draws more than 17 million visitors a year. It uses Hewlett-Packard Co. servers running the Microsoft SQL Server database management system. Responses to the RFI are due July 2, but OPM did not say when it plans to release a request for proposals.
