Brig. Gen. John Thomas has been named as chief information officer and director of Marine Corps C4
Brig. Gen. John Thomas, who has been serving as the deputy director for Marine Corps command, control, communications and computers, has been named to replace Brig. Gen. Robert Shea as the Corps' chief information officer.
Thomas was named as director of the Marine Corps C4 and CIO earlier this month, officials said. He has been deputy director for C4 since Aug. 20, 2001. He was promoted to his present rank Jan. 1, 2000.

Shea is going to U.S. Forces Japan, where he will begin serving as the deputy commander this month.
