GSA awards AT&T Web hosting contract for FirstGov

The General Services Administration today awarded AT&T a four year, $7.6 million contract for Web hosting and security services for the Firstgov.gov portal.AT&T, which also won the search engine contract in March, will provide hardware and software and security infrastructure to support the Web site and some of the 24 e-government projects that the Office of Management and Budget is sponsoring.The contract is for one year with three one-year options valued at $1.9 million a year. AT&T, which was the incumbent, started work Aug. 14.Casey Coleman, chief technology officer for the Office of Communications and Citizen Services, which manages FirstGov, said the e-government initiatives will be able to design, test and deploy new services through Firstgov.gov. Many of the 24 projects will require transaction capabilities and other authentication services.GSA competed the contract through the Federal Supply Schedule and a cross-agency team, which included officials from the Commerce Department, GSA, the Labor Department and an independent third party, evaluated the proposals.
