South Dakota puts most state forms on Web

South Dakota has posted more than 1,100 state forms at , and some can be filled out online. Officials said South Dakota Service Direct is the only site they know of that provides nearly all state forms online. A life-events timeline helps users locate services by age group. They also can click on standalone buttons for specific actions, such as finding a job. In addition, the site has forms for starting, growing or maintaining a business in the state. All forms are searchable by keyword, service category and agency.South Dakota CIO Otto Doll said the Bureau of Information and Telecommunications will work with the legislative and judicial branches and other offices to add more forms and publications. So far, the available forms are from agencies controlled by the governor, the secretary of state and the treasurer. “Most state and business portals cost several hundreds of thousands of dollars, some even millions,” Doll said in a statement. He said the bureau “programmed the entire portal for less than $200,000.”
