Air Force picks CSC for space work
Computer Sciences Corp. to provide IT services for missile defense and other space-related missions
The Air Force Space Command recently selected Computer Sciences Corp. to provide information technology services for missile defense and other space-related missions supported by the command's directorate of command, control, communications and computers (C4).
Under the agreement, which was a recompetition of a previous award, CSC will continue to provide operations and maintenance, help-desk services and engineering support for enterprise networks, according to a spokesman for the company.
The Air Force Space Command provides infrastructure support for its own space operations as well as for U.S. Space Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
CSC's support work includes computer systems engineering, information management and network control center operations for all three commands.
The task order, which was awarded in August, has a one-year base period and four one-year options, with a total potential value of $75 million.
William Donahue, vice president and general manager of CSC's aerospace business unit, said that about 35 engineers and technical staff from the company's defense group are expected to carry out the work in the Colorado Springs, Colo., area.
CSC's team members are Titan Corp. and Science Applications International Corp., he said.
