Air Force SSG awards 8(a) contracts

The Air Force Standard Systems Group last week awarded four 8(a) companies information technology services contracts that are potentially worth $100 million over the next five years.

Ingenium Corp., AC Technologies Inc., Business Technologies and Solutions Inc. and Smartronix Inc. were awarded the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts Dec. 12. The contracts run through that date in 2007.

The Small Business Administration offers the 8(a) program to provide opportunities for socially and economically disadvantaged small-business owners seeking access to the government contracts marketplace.

The IT services provided under the new contracts, which are worth up to $100 million, will support the automated information systems and network systems developed or maintained by SSG. The specific services include:

* Software development.

* Maintenance, modification and integration for currently implemented systems.

* New development efforts.

The contracts will be used primarily by SSG headquarters, which is located at Gunter Annex in Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., and the Materiel Systems Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

SSG provides and sustains combat support information systems for the Air Force and the Defense Department. The group procures IT products used by almost every organization on Air Force military bases worldwide.

Frank Weber, SSG executive director, said his office considers the 8(a) contractors "partners in our business environment" and expressed confidence in their abilities to help the SSG "meet the full range of our customers' requirements."
