Contract to combat electronic threats
Air Force Research Laboratory contract will lead to technologies for improving the ability to counter electronic threats.
The Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, recently awarded a contract to develop advanced electronic protection techniques to defend frontline weapon systems to Veridian Corp.
Under the Electronic Protection Initiatives contract, Veridian will identify techniques and technologies to improve the Air Force's ability to counter existing and projected electronic threats.
Research conducted at the Air Force lab will support various intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) efforts, global positioning system, and electronic support measures systems, according to a spokesman for the Arlington, Va.-based company.
The contract also includes numerous potential application areas, such as target detection, identification, and tracking from airborne, space-based, and surface radar platforms, including unmanned air vehicles (UAVs).
Work began late last year on the seven-year, nearly $24 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, according to the Veridian spokesman.
