Corda joins Siebel Alliance

Corda Technologies Inc., a small software developer, will announce Feb. 24 that it has joined the Siebel Alliance Program as a software partner.

Corda specializes in software that converts database information into chart or map displays.

Under the partnership, Siebel Systems Inc. will integrate Corda's PopChart project into its Siebel Analytics product line. PopChart mines databases and converts the information into bar graphs, pie charts and other visual representations.

According to David Vandagriff, Corda's vice president of sales and marketing, Corda's technology is compliant with Section 508, a distinction that has won it federal customers at the National Institutes of Health. Section 508 requires federal Web sites to accommodate users with disabilities.

For visually impaired readers, the software can list the data points shown on the chart and read the needed information through a text-to-speech program. For example, for a bar graph showing cancer rates in different demographic groups, the software would read the groups, types of cancer and numbers.

The Lindon, Utah-based company considers the federal market one of its most promising targets but has found the task of raising name recognition to be slow going, Vandagriff said.

Siebel, which sold $6.5 million through the General Services Administration's Schedule 70 last year, will help Corda in its quest, he said.
