SAIC expanding Air Force business

Acquisition of the DOD business of Scientech beefs up work for Air Force Materiel Command

Science Applications International Corp. announced an acquisition today that represents an effort to beef up its work at Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, Utah.

SAIC has acquired the Defense Department business of Scientech Inc., a technology services provider. SAIC did not disclose financial details.

The acquisition turns Ogden-based Scientech's DOD Engineering Business Segment — including 30 employees — into a new business unit reporting to SAIC's Logistics and Engineering Solutions Group.

It also expands SAIC's presence in Ogden, where the company performs engineering and technical services for the Air Force Materiel Command.

"This acquisition adds depth and breadth to existing SAIC capabilities and allows us to provide the Air Force with more services to meet their needs and challenges," Michael Gauss, head of SAIC's Logistics and Engineering Solutions Group, said in a statement.
