Army picks vendors for IDIQ

Army Forces Command last week selected vendors for an Army-wide information technology support and services contract with a total potential value of $650 million.

The Operations, Planning, Training and Resource Support Services (OPTARSS) contract is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity vehicle available for worldwide use. It includes a wide variety of IT-heavy areas, including command, control, computers, communication and intelligence (C4I) system management, and Army transformation support.

The Army Contracting Agency, Fort McPherson, Ga., notified the winning vendors March 11. Winners include Anteon International Corp., Science Applications International Corp, Eagle Group International Inc., ICI Solutions, TRW Inc., CACI International Inc., Booz Allen Hamilton and Computer Sciences Corp.

OPTARSS contract task areas include:

* C4I system management.

* Training.

* Modeling and simulation.

* Operational planning.

* Flight operations.

* Mobilization plans and execution.

* Deployment operations.

* Program management processes.

* Force protection.

* Army transformation and organizational support.

The OPTARRS contract total value limit is $650 million if all options are exercised. The contract value for Anteon is projected to be about $80 million, according to Joseph Kampf, the company's president and chief executive officer.

The Army has indicated that it will host its kickoff meeting for awardees around the first week of April and task order processing should begin shortly thereafter, according to an Anteon spokesperson.

Army officials were unavailable for comment.
