Commerce picks Dialog for news site
Dialog will host World News Connection, which offers information compiled from foreign news organizations
The Commerce Department has chosen Dialog Corp. to host World News Connection, a Web site that offers news and information compiled from foreign news organizations.
Commerce's National Technical Information Service (NTIS) publishes the site.
Dialog, based in Cary, N.C., provides online information and is a subsidiary of Thomson Corp.
The government's Foreign Broadcast Information Service monitors news sources from bureaus around the world, gathering articles, reports and other material for the World News Connection site. NTIS has been hosting the site itself, according to a Dialog announcement March 10.
Dialog will incorporate the site into its existing suite of online services and relaunch it later this year, Cliff Pollan, executive vice president of strategy and alliances, said in the announcement.
"We intend to add value to the service through improved functionality while maintaining its global comprehensiveness and timeliness," he said in the statement.
