Survey: Top challenges are funding and security

In developing its list of 10 challenges, GCN drew on a variety of sources, including former and current federal officials, government contractors and analysts.But no Top 10 list is definitive, because somebody always has another opinion. In the interest of reflecting some of those opinions, GCN surveyed readers via e-mail on what they saw as the top challenges.Among the 151 respondents, funding came first.But funding held only a slight edge over security as the top concern, 53 percent to 52 percent.Managers also cited enterprise architecture and e-government as key challenges, at 31 percent and 30 percent, respectively.About a quarter of survey respondents rated data sharing as a major hurdle, and another 20 percent identified financial management as a big burden.The survey results are based on 151 responses to a questionnaire e-mailed in February to 3,756 GCN subscribers.
