Veridian maintains Eagle Vision

In its effort to speed the delivery of commercial satellite imagery to military planners and intelligence analysts, the Air Force recently awarded Veridian Corp. a contract worth up to $37.7 million to support the Eagle Vision program.

Eagle Vision is the Air Force's deployable commercial satellite imagery receiving and processing system. The system provides in-theater, real-time acquisition and processing of commercial satellite imagery.

Commercial imagery is produced from unclassified sources and therefore can be more widely distributed to U.S. armed forces and coalition partners.

Eagle Vision consists of a network of transportable ground stations that can be rapidly deployed and configured to downlink and process commercial satellite data into formats required by the military.

The Air Force's Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., awarded the contract to Veridian. The award builds upon the company's previous work for Eagle Vision. Veridian has been involved since the program's inception following Operation Desert Storm.

The latest deal includes a base award of $7.4 million and options to supply additional systems, as well as provisions for Veridian to supply training and additional support for the Eagle Vision program for six years, said Bob Pattishall, president of Veridian's systems division.
