The U.S. Postal Service has extended a contract for its Web-based reporting system, which gathers information from 60 USPS systems and presents it in a single interface for employees.

The contract, announced today by Washington, D.C.-based Conquest Systems Inc., is for a base period of March 2003 to September 2004, with four one-year options. It is incrementally funded and could reach a value of $10.1 million over five years.

The Web Enterprise Information System (WebEIS) contains information such as finance records, employee complements, performance measurements, mail products and mailing facility details. The system is available to more than 18,000 employees, most of whom are postal management.

It reports "just about every aspect of postal operations," said Richard Landry, Conquest Systems' president and chief executive officer. "The system allows you to compare data from different systems."

For example, if an employee wanted to compare overtime data with productivity information, WedEIS presents that information in a single location, Landry said.

Conquest Systems has been developing the system for the Postal Service since about 1997. Before that, the company had developed a client/server version of the system in 1994. Under the latest task order, Conquest Systems will maintain and enhance WebEIS.

"We will continue to maintain and customize it for the Postal Service and add more data," Landry said. The Postal Service "has been very progressive about the capabilities of the system. If they want to change the direction, they can do it very quickly."
