USPTO picks learning management tool
GeoLearning system will provide agency employees with access to career development resources
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has selected GeoLearning Inc.'s learning management system to manage agencywide e-learning.
GeoLearning's GeoMaestro system will provide USPTO's 5,000 employees with access to career development resources and more than 50 e-learning courses on business skills, information security, computer applications and information technology.
USPTO's e-learning program is part of the Gov Online Learning Center initiative. The learning management system will also host courses created by other vendors.
Meanwhile, the Department of Housing and Urban Development extended its own contract for the learning management system, signing a one-year extension for GeoLearning to manage the HUD Virtual University.
The HUD Virtual University, launched in mid-2002, uses GeoMaestro to deliver and track about 1,800 courses for 10,000 employees. It too is part of the Gov Online Learning Center initiative.
