EPA awards call center contract to Optimus
Optimus will run call center operations for Toxic Substances Control Act information service
The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a contract to Optimus Corp. to run call center operations for EPA's Toxic Substances Control Act Assistance Information Service.
The contract, valued at $2.9 million, covers hot line services including equipment and personnel. EPA's hot line service provides technical assistance and information about programs implemented under the Toxic Substances Control Act, as well as technical assistance to chemical manufacturers, processors, users and disposers.
The call center will be completely managed by Optimus, which will implement an automated call distribution system, as well as a comprehensive information database.
During 1998, the hot line staff responded to more than 19,000 calls and processed more than 900 document requests per week.
