The Small Business Administration continues to add staff to its e-government office. After bringing on Stephen Galvan as CIO and Ron Miller as a senior adviser for e-government in the past five months, the agency has hired Sandy Gibbs to be an e-government project manager.Gibbs, who recently worked for the Office of Personnel Management, starts Monday, Miller said. At OPM, Gibbs managed the Enterprise Human Resource Integration Quicksilver project until May, when OPM reassigned her to perform IT privacy assessments for the agency. Miller said Gibbs will be the implementation manager for the Business Gateway, which is the new name for SBA’s e-government project, Business Compliance One-Stop. She is not replacing current project manager Jim VanWert, but will assist him in the day-to-day work, Miller said.“She will give Jim more time to engage in customer relationship management, policy and strategy development, as well as evangelism for the Business Gateway,” Miller said. “We now have a formidable team to devote to the development of a one-stop resource for the small business community.”OMB and SBA earlier this week announced they will refocus the Business Compliance One-Stop project to reduce the paperwork burden on small firms by implementing an e-forms system across the government. Gibbs also will be manager of SBA’s project management Center of Excellence. She will be responsible for incorporating sound project management practices throughout the agency, Miller said.
