Air Force IT leader steps down

Lt. Gen. Leslie Kenne, deputy chief of staff for warfighting integration at Air Force headquarters, will retire Sept. 1.

The Air Force secretary and chief of staff rely on Kenne to oversee integration of the service's command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. She oversees four field operating agencies: Air Force Command and Control and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Center; Air Force Communications Agency; Air Force Frequency Management Agency; and the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation.

Before taking her current role in May 2002, Kenne commanded the Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., and before that, directed the Joint Strike Fighter Program in Arlington, Va.

Lt. Gen William Hobbins, currently commander of the 12th Air Force and U.S. Southern Command Air Forces, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., has been selected to replace Kenne.
