IRS Digital Dispatch goes weekly

The Internal Revenue Service this week doubled the frequency of one of its Digital Dispatch e-mail newsletters.
The IRS maintains several e-mail newsletters and mailing lists to provide information to the public and a place to interact on tax matters. Some of the newsletters are year-round and others are primarily used during the tax season, to distribute information about changes in the agency's processes, procedures and delays.
Until now, the IRS released the Digital Dispatch on a biweekly basis, but officials decided to send it out weekly because the agency generates more information.
More than 100,000 tax professionals subscribe to Digital Dispatch, which provides details such as important tax dates and events, IRS news releases, alerts and any technical guidance issued in the last week, including announcements, notices, revenue procedures and revenue rulings.
The tax agency's other e-mail newsletters include one with tax tips for citizens during the filing season and another with updates for employees about the agency's retirement plan. The IRS' mailing lists include one for small businesses and self-employed taxpayers to connect in regions nationwide.
