'Park of the Week' goes online
The National Park Service announced the launch of the Web site last week.
The new "Park of the Week" Web site is now online, offering an interactive glimpse into the features and attractions of parks nationwide.
The National Park Service announced the site's launch last week. A different park will be profiled each week on the site, which debuted with a feature on Rocky Mountain National Park, Colo.
"Park of the Week is a great opportunity for our parks to connect with the public," National Park Service Director Fran Mainella said.
The Park Service uses the new site to tell people about park improvements and potential volunteer opportunities. Officials hope to reach a broader audience and perhaps those who haven't thought about visiting parks before, Mainella said.
In addition to its own Web address, Park of the Week can also be accessed through a direct link on the White House home page.
