Former GSA tech exec joins Grant Thornton
Dennis Fischer is former commissioner of the Federal Technology Service.
Grant Thornton LLP hired Dennis Fischer, who was commissioner of the General Services Administration's Federal Technology Service from 1997 to 2000, to be the company's director for government innovation.
Fischer was most recently vice president of Visa USA's sales and integrated solutions division.
Grant Thornton, an accounting and business consulting firm, hopes to take advantage of Fischer's expertise as a former federal official, said Hank Steininger, the firm's managing partner. "We expect Dennis to play a vital role in shaping our services and solutions to meet federal clients' current and emerging requirements," he said.
Fischer said he looks forward to working with agencies again, particularly on projects that fall under the President's Management Agenda.
"I've always viewed Grant Thornton as a trusted adviser to government with very high credentials and integrity," he said.
Grant Thornton announced Fischer's appointment earlier this week, but did not mention his start date.
