Library of Congress preps financial system

The Library of Congress has awarded American Management Systems Inc. a $34 million contract for financial management systems.

Under the 10-year contract, AMS will provide the Library with an integrated financial management and procurement system to support a higher level of efficiency and financial control, the company announced today.

The system, based on AMS' Momentum enterprise resource planning suite, will support the Library's annual budget and procurement services. Library officials will have access to financial information on the Internet, allowing for more efficient decision-making, the company said. The integration of the financial and procurement systems is expected to cut down redundancies.

"Faster, more efficient back office systems will help the Library of Congress spend more time advancing its outstanding record of public service and less time navigating red tape," said Donna Morea, AMS executive vice president and general manager for the public sector.
