Perry leaves the VA for industry

The CTO of the Veterans Affairs Department will take a job at SAIC, where he will join the VA's former CIO.

Frank Perry, the chief technology officer at the Department of Veterans Affairs, is leaving the federal government for a technology job at SAIC.

Perry will be SAIC's chief engineer in the information technology systems sectors. He will join his longtime associate, Rear Adm. John Gauss, the former chief information officer at the VA who left government service in June for a top technology post at SAIC.

VA's enterprise architecture plan was led by Perry, who joined the agency in December 2001. Previously, he was technical director for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, for which he was responsible for integrating engineering and development activities across Spawar's programs. Gauss and Perry worked together at Spawar and the Defense Information Systems Agency. Gauss retired as Spawar commander before moving to the VA.
