USDA names finance center leaders

The Agriculture Department has named Cyrus G. "Jerry" Lohfink as director of the National Finance Center and Gilbert Hawk as head of the Information Resources Management Division.

The National Finance Center (NFC) in New Orleans serves the USDA and 120 other agencies in accounting, human resources and payroll services. It also handles record-keeping activities of the retirement plan for federal employees.

Lohfink joined the center in 1977, working in the Central Files Unit. He worked in an accounting-related position in the Agriculture Research Service division for a few years, and returned to the finance center in 1984 as a program analyst in the Directives and Analysis Branch. He has been financial management officer, associate director in the information resources management division, and most recently, NCF deputy director.

Lohfink graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in business administration, obtained an accounting a degree from Tulane University and continued his formal education with a focus in technology management.

Hawk most recently was responsible for the global command, control, communications, computer and intelligence integration for the Air Force. He has been chief information officer for the U.S. Transportation Command and commander of the Air Force Communications Agency. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in Omaha and received a master's degree in management from Webster University.
