Cross-government collaboration doesn't stop with sharing business-case information. Another data repository allows agencies to share and manage information on enterprise architecture components.

The Component Organization and Registration Environment, Core.gov, an initiative founded in the Chief Information Officer's Architecture and Infrastructure Committee, is a consolidated repository in which agencies can register and share architecture components.

"We span from very technical components such as Web services, Java scripts and code all the way up to business components such as e-gov initiatives," said Marion Royal, agency expert at the General Services Administration.

When a component is registered, the system creates an e-mail list and Web space on which agency officials can work together, Royal said. The goal is to provide management capability for the component's life cycle, from development to use to retirement.

Royal said officials plan to integrate Core.gov with the Federal Enterprise Architecture Management System.
