Consultant provides Grants.gov assessments

With a September deadline looming for agencies to integrate grants systems to the governmentwide solution, one company says it can help.

Washington, D.C.-based Turner Consulting Group (TCG) is providing an analysis of the readiness of agencies for integration to Grants.gov, the governmentwide portal for finding and applying for grants.

Office of Management and Budget officials directed agencies to develop a schedule by March 1 for using the apply function, and said that all new fiscal 2004 development dollars should go toward merging with Grants.gov by Sept. 1.

TCG's Grants.gov Readiness Assessment provides an action-focused analysis to help agencies comply, according to company officials. TCG developed the Agriculture Department's interface with Grants.gov, officials said, and the assessment applies the lessons learned from that effort.

"Rather than create a stovepipe solution for the widespread requirement of Grants.gov integration, we've worked hard to create an approach that any agency can use," said David Cassidy, vice president of TCG.

The company charges a fixed price for its assessments, although the actual figure depends on the specific agency's needs, he said.

TCG also is offering for free its Grants.gov Connector software, which allows agency officials to receive grants proposals from Grants.gov into their own grants management systems.
