Michigan cops buy E Team software

Michigan State Police Emergency Management Division

The Michigan State Police Emergency Management Division will be using E Team Inc.'s crisis management software for its statewide response and preparedness system, the company said.

The collaboration software will be the basis for the division's geospatial and emergency management systems, which Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) is developing and implementing. It is already in place in other cities and has been used for large-scale events, including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, but this is the first statewide deployment, according to the company.

Michigan state police had the system running for a year as part of a pilot project before the full rollout began in January. That first phase brings together users including the Michigan State Police; the state's Community Health, Agriculture, Environmental Quality and Natural Resources departments; several local emergency management programs; and regional medical response coalitions.
