National Security Agency names CIO

The National Security Agency named a new chief information officer, replacing Richard Turner, who has moved on to the private sector.

An NSA spokesperson confirmed that La Forrest Williams, a retired Air Force colonel, was named the new CIO on March 3. No other information on Williams' background was immediately available.

Turner is the former chief information officer of the Federal Trade Commission. He recently left NSA to work for GTSI Corp. a technology reseller. Turner was named CIO after an extensive search upon the retirement of former CIO Raymond Holter, after 34 years of federal service.
