Roland wins $8.5M simulation deal
The company will provide software system design and maintenance for the simulation system at the Joint Warfighting Center.
Joint Forces Command officials this morning announced they awarded an $8.5 million contract to Roland & Associates Corp. to support joint theater-level simulation at the Joint Warfighting Center in Norfolk, Va.
The initial contract for Roland is worth $2.7 million, with follow-on options bringing its potential ceiling to more than $8 million. The Joint Warfighting Center coordinates the overall joint training program.
Under the contract, Roland will provide software system design, development, analysis and maintenance of joint theater-level simulation — an interactive, computer-assisted simulation system that models multisided air, ground and naval combat.
According to Joint Warfighting Center officials, joint theater-level simulation focuses on the operational level of war as experienced by the regional combatant commanders and joint task force staffs.
The center's simulation is the only inherently joint model in use for theater operations with multisided, coalition warfare, according to JFCOM officials. The simulation system can represent up to 10 sides of a conflict, each with individual side relationships and rules of engagement.
Work will be performed at the Joint Warfighting Center and at the company's facility in Monterey, Calif.
