The Homeland Security Department inspector general's report highlights information sharing as a significant challenge. According to the report, DHS officials must:

Fully staff the Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection Directorate.

Establish better relationships with the Terrorist Threat Integration Center.

Develop common standards for sharing information among relevant federal, state, local and first responder groups.

Identify, validate, catalog and prioritize critical infrastructure protection efforts.
