Air Force wants IT hardware vendors
The service expects to release a request for proposals by mid-May for the desktop, notebook and computer server portion of its Information Technology Tools program.
Air Force officials expect to release a request for proposals by mid-May to replace the $600 million desktop, notebook and computer server portion of the service's $2 billion Information Technology Tools program.
The Air Force will post the solicitation within 30 days at herbb.hanscom.af.mil. The service plans to award four contracts to large companies and two deals to small businesses, according to an April 17 government procurement notice.
The Air Force's Headquarters Standard Systems Group and the service's new IT Commodity Council will devise the contract, according to the statement. The Air Force awarded five contracts for the IT2 hardware portion in 2000. The deals covered five years.
