Army plans new TEIS contract

Army officials want to continue a $1 billion program that provides Army installations and operations worldwide with engineering, information assurance and systems integration computer services.

Army Information Systems Engineering Command met April 23 with industry officials to explain the parameters of the new Total Engineering and Integration Services (TEIS) procurement, which is worth $1 billion. More than 50 vendors participated in last week's meeting, according to an industry official who attended the session.

TEIS involves development, maintenance and information assurance services that strengthen Army computer networks. It includes firewalls and intrusion-detection systems.

In 2000, the Army awarded the first TEIS contract to an industry team led by OAO Corp., now Lockheed Martin Corp.'s Information Technology division in Greenbelt, Md. The service will issue a request for proposals for the contract later this year, the industry official said.
