Lockheed opens US-VISIT office

Just in case they are awarded the Homeland Security Department's massive entry/exit program deal, Lockheed Martin Corp. officials have opened office space to support the job.

Although an award is not expected until the end of May for a prime contractor for the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program, Lockheed has secured space in Arlington, Va., to set up operations, company officials announced today.

Once selected, the prime integrator must meet aggressive deadlines, officials said.

"Preparing an office in advance of the contract award will ensure our team's ability to immediately commence implementation of the technical and management solutions developed over the last two years," said Dick Fogel, director of strategic initiatives for Lockheed Martin Transportation and Security Solutions.

Lockheed, Computer Sciences Corp. and Accenture submitted proposals for the award in January.
