NCI lands Army contracts

NCI Information Systems Inc. received this week two task orders from the Army's new performance-based contract.

NCI won April 13 a $7 million deal for information technology services at Communications-Electronics Command at Fort Monmouth, N.J. The Reston, Va -based company landed today a $15.1 million project for IT services for the IT Services Directorate at the service's Directorate of Information Management, also at Fort Monmouth.

The $7 million task order calls for NCI and its subcontractor, Multimax Inc. to install, support and maintain a local-area computer network in CECOM's Logistics and Readiness Center. The $15 million task order requires NCI, Multimax and General Dynamics Corp. to perform acquisition of supplies and hardware, administration of computer server systems, information assurance, network engineering, and operation and maintenance of workstations and network equipment for the Fort Monmouth DOIM, said an April 15 NCI statement.

The two NCI deals mark the third task order under the $1 billion Information Technology Enterprise Solutions contract. ITES involves the Army asking vendors how to solve an IT problem instead of telling them how to do it.

The Army awarded last month the first ITES task order to Northrop Grumman Corp. to update computer operating systems at the U.S. Military Academy. The company's IT division in Herndon, Va., will update West Point computers to Microsoft Corp. Windows 2000 and newer operating systems and Active Directory, a six-month project valued at $175,000.
