John Stenbit, former CIO for the Defense Department, joined network security firm Cryptek's board of advisors.
Retired Defense Department chief information officer John Stenbit yesterday joined the board of advisors of Cryptek Inc., a network security firm in Sterling, Va.
"He will prove to be an invaluable resource to Cryptek in strategic product planning and helping us to identify opportunities for our network security solutions to meet the emerging information sharing requirements of homeland security and coalition warfare information policies," said Daniel Abraham, the company's president and chief executive officer, in an April 22 statement.
Stenbit retired last month as assistant secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration and CIO. During his three years as the department's top information technology official, he helped shaped the evolving network-centric warfare communications infrastructure.
Stenbit retired in 2001 as an executive vice president from the former TRW Inc., now part of Northrop Grumman Corp. At TRW he oversaw planning and analysis of surveillance satellites.
